FAQ

What is this all about?
H/D Ever After is a one-time special event hosted by [livejournal.com profile] hdotp with the theme of Fairytales.

What counts as a Fairytale?
It can be absolutely anything. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Disney fairytales
- Grimm’s fairytales
- Folktales & folklore
- Ancient myths & legends

If you prompt and you are referencing a tale that many people may not be familiar with, you may provide a link to further information (wikipedia page, etc).

How will this "fest" run?
Actually, this was supposed to run as a traditional prompt-based fest, but we decided to do it a little differently. Because there are already a plethora of H/D fests, practically one per month all year, but because we still want to gather all the fun Fairytale prompts people come up with, we decided on a unique format.

The mods will put up the prompting post on Jan 15, and anyone can prompt up to ten times until Jan 31. The mods will then compile the prompts and put the list up by Feb 2. At that time, people can start claiming prompts! Prompts can be claimed an unlimited amount of times for either fic or art. The number of times a prompt was claimed will be noted on the prompt list. Participants are free to turn in their works at any time.

Basically, if you want to claim, you just post the work to your journal, to AO3, or wherever you want to post it (so no, this is not an anonymous fest), and then link to it at the com. The mods will compile a Monthly Masterlist of fills.

Claiming will be open indefinitely and there is no official due date. The only deadline we have is that this "fest" ends at the end of this year, and the last day to fill will be Nov 30, 2015 (before all the winter/holiday fests start posting).

Are there any content restrictions?
1) The material must be unique to the fest; meaning, it cannot be a continuation of an existing verse or WIP, or anything that has already been posted elsewhere.
2) Crossovers with other fandoms are also not allowed, but crossovers between the Potterverse and the verse of the Fairytale are.

Other than that, there are no content restrictions. This means all genres and kinks are welcome.

So what is allowed?
We are all interpretations of the theme, including:
- Crossovers (with the Fairytale’s verse, not other fandoms)
- Adaptations (the elements and basic essence of the Fairytale is used as a plot device and/or metaphorically throughout the Potterverse)
- AUs (Alternate Universe in which the HP books “never happened” but the characters exist in the new universe created by the fic-writer)

Do we have to write a crossover, adaptation, or AU?
Nope! You can interpret the Fairytale in any way you want. You can use it as a metaphor and find a way to write a canon-compliant EWE story that is still true to the Fairytale, just as one example. It does not have to be a word-for-word copy of a Disney movie (although it could be if you wanted it to and if that’s what the prompt asks for).

RULES & GUIDELINES

Prompting
- You may prompt without intention to claim
- Please leave one prompt per comment
- Each person can submit a max of 10 prompts

Claiming
- You may claim even if you didn’t prompt
- After you submit your first claim, you may claim again
- You may self-prompt if you don’t like the prompts available
- You may claim your own prompt
- Prompts may be claimed an unlimited number of times.
- The number of times a prompt was claimed will be noted in the prompt list.

Fic
- All entries must be beta-read
- All entries must be a minimum of 1,000 words

WIP's
- Posting in installments is totally fine, as long as each installment meets the 1k min word count
- You can post weekly, monthly, etc and the installments that meet the word count will be gathered in the Monthly Masterlist

Ex: If you write 3 installments (one per week) in March that ALTOGETHER make 1k, we will post them to March's Masterlist
But if your 3 installments in March altogether equal 900 words, they will not count as a fill, and won't be in March's Masterlist

Obviously, you could also do one installment per month that is 1k+ words, and that counts for the masterlist.

If you want to do the WIP in your own journal and link us to it when it's all complete, that would count as a finished fic for us and be included in the relevant masterlist of when you posted it here on this com.

Art/Media
- Traditional and digital art is welcome
- Podfics and fanvids are welcome
- Crafts are welcome
- Photo manips and icon sets are welcome
- Fanmixes are welcome

Submissions
- Post your fanwork anywhere you like, and then link to it in the com.
- Please use the header provided in the claiming post.
- There is no deadline, so take as much time as you need.
- Submissions will be compiled into monthly masterlists.
